Friday morning we got on the water @6:00 am and it was the heaviest fog i've been in on the water. So it took a little bit longer to get to the belky, fished for a couple of hours 1 king(10lbs) 2 spanish(both 2.5lbs)2 misses. This was supposed to be family day, but the water was just to good to turn down. So after sleeping in the dog house we went out the same time saturday and the water was glass so we headed to belky 1st hooked nothing so we went to the bill perry jr reef, and a tugboat (ELIZABETH) was hauling a barge full of new york city subway cars(roughly 40) to the perry jr reef. Stayed around to watch that go down it was pretty cool..Caught 1 king(20lbs)clean release and 1 nice cuda. Talked to others and they were hooking them on the beach...pretty dismal day considering how calm it was...ready to try again though!!!!!!!!

You are right, Saturday was an extremely calm day. It was one that we get only once every few years. We ran southeast about 45 miles. We had to change course to go around an anchored boat. We passed about a tenth mile of it and found it to be a bass boat with what appeared to be two adults and a juvenile. Now we were running at an angle to the coast, but this still had to be well over 25 miles off the beach!! When we got to our fishing spots, we were catching mostly amberjack, amberines, and grunts. When the wind picked up in the afternoon, so did the fishing. We ended up putting several nice scamp in the boat, a few black bass, and Beeliners. Our main problem was a pair of 6' plus Barracude that followed us around, and chose their meals at our expense. One of the Scamps we pulled in was cut short, and a lot of the Grunts, Amberines, and Beeliners were cut off behind the gill plate. My charter folks were amazed... one minute a heavy pulling fish, then a flash, a large area of bloody water, and a fish head was all that was on the line. I hope the bassboat left long before we did, as the run back got nasty near the end. Great charter group, and great day at "the office"
